Today I am sad to announce, Broken Record Gospel is parting ways. Ben has left to pursue another project. Andy and myself are putting together a new band. It's a sad time for all of us. We worked really hard at something and now it's over. Thanks to all of you. Sorry we let you down. I know everyone is a part of BRG, that's what made it so special. We will do our best to rock you in the future.

Booking A Tour For Your Friends

I've been helping The Hero And The Victor book their first tour. We were supposed to go with them, but had to cancel. So far so good. Although I'm really jealous that they get to go out, and I don't. I guess that's just how it goes sometimes. So if you live out of town, keep an eye out for them, or if you can help w/ some shows, please let me know.(Through myspace.com/brokenrecordgospel, or by posting a comment here) I've been playing with some new guys lately. It's been really amazing. I think we all have a lot of emotions and what not, going on with us from our other bands, life in general, all the good stuff. Mostly we all just want to play music constantly. Write creative, original music. All really being dedicated. Keep checking back for more details. It's still really new. What's new with BRG? We are still playing. Although it's been awhile since we've wrote anything new. Ben's been playing and recording w/ his other band. Andy and me have been hanging out a lot lately. Swimming, playing music, having drinks @ the bars of Bakersfield. There will be news about BRG soon. Once we can all get in the same room at the same time. We are playing June 24th @ The Boiler Room. Everyone should go. It's not often we play anymore. I'd like to see you all there.

Thanks to everyone who came to the show last night. It's been awhile. We will be playing @ Riley's Tavern this Sunday w/ Stepsonday. I'm excited to play w/ these guys. They are really good, so if you haven't seen them yet, you need to. E>K>U>K had to cancel. Seems they ran into a touring problem. But have promised to come back very soon. So keep an eye out. We have been a busy band lately. Ben's been playing in a side project. As for me, I've been playing w/ a couple awesome dudes. Maybe I'll tell you more about that later. Andy has been hard @ work as well. Have no fear, BRG isn't going anywhere. Just keeping ourselves busy. There might yet be even be another project in the works w/ Andy, Leslie, and me. So keep an eye out for some new stuff. It's going to be a summer of music. Leslie and me are about to have our 2 year anniversary of promoting shows @ Riley's Tavern. There is going to be some good surprises, great bands, and hopefully all of you. Without your support we wouldn't have an anniversary to celebrate. Thanks.(It's going to be in July)

We had to cancel the show in San Diego tonight. Which really sucks! Out of my hands.
Thanks to everyone who came out to support us last Friday @ Narducci's. Sorry we didn't play, we didn't even know that we weren't until late in the afternoon. However @ least you got to watch 3 great other bands. Girth(Seattle), Day And Age(San Diego), and Gramercy Riff. What a show it was, too! I had a blast! All the wine and free pool. A little outdoors action w/ the comfort of indoors. Good friends. Made for a beautiful night. Day and Age spent the night w/ my roommates, me, and some close friends. We drank a lot of beer, ate a bit of cheese and crackers, and honestly had some of the best, most sincere, and humorous conversations I've had in a long time. In fact I vagely remember someone saying,"I like to lick men's..." Well you get the point. It was a hysterical night.
So if you get the chance come see us soon...

Getting Ready...

Tonight we are playing a show. Yesterday I moved stuff all day. Big, heavy, dusty stuff. It was hot! Blazin' Hot! But, when we were all done, I got to go to my friends house. We swam. We BBQ'd. We had a couple cocktails, and cold frosty ones. It was the perfect end to a stressful day. Finally I got a bed. Sleeping on the floor for a few months, gets old pretty quick. It's a whole different world when you have a real bed. Things seem a little brighter. Maybe it's just because I'm closer to the window than I used to be? Hmmm. The show @ Narducci's tonight. A birthday party tomorrow, w/ a bouncy house. A BBQ on Sunday followed by an awesome show @ Riley's Tavern. It's destined to be one of the best Memorial Day weekends ever. Plus, we are planning a trip to SLC, UT. for the 4th Of July. Visit some friends, enjoy the nightlife up there for a few days. I was going to write more, but it's all coming out so scattered right now. I think I'm going to stop. Hope to see you all a Narducci's. Thanks

The Times They Are A Changin'

More! More! More. That's seems to be what May brings. Someone once told me May was the month of ill fortune and death. I suppose I'm finally starting to agree w/ them. Maybe it's also a time for re-birth, and growth, though. We'll see how that turns out. A friend of mine was sad last night. It seems a friend of thiers did one of the worst things you can do to someone, to them. It has started the wheel turning, who knows how fast it will go, or if it will ever stop. But something amazing just might happen. I really hope so. Something has started. These secret meetings. This creation of something. Perhaps you'll know it soon, too. It's going to be great. It's going to be sad...But you'll understand. We all will. This Friday is going to rock! Nothing like some late night Girth...Broken Record Gospel...Day And Age...Gramercy Riff(Only a 3 piece now?). 18 and over. Only $5.

TSK TSk And The Upcoming Girth...

Last night was a lot of fun. Pretty hot on the dance floor. But Tsk Tsk and us still managed rock. They are such a great band to get to play with. I think here in the future, we are going to be doing a show w/ them and Qui down in LA. At least that's what we talked about last night. So you've heard me talking about the upcoming Girth show @ Narducci's. I'll remind you once more, Friday May 27th 9 PM
18+ w/ID, Girth (Seattle), Day And Age (San Diego), BRoken Record Gospel, Gramercy Riff. So you all have to come. It's only $5 dollars, and there is also free pool all night. Okay, anyways. Let's have a vote. Are subject? Andy's Beard. You know, our animal of a drummer. Who thinks he should keep the beard, or shave it off? I'm curious to see what the rest of you think. That way you have to keep coming back to hear more. Members of local band, we won't name names, having been saying some pretty mean and shitty things about BRG. But that's okay everyone's entitled to their opinion. But sometimes people say things because they want something that someone else has. The only way they can express themselves is to do it w/ false smiles, and fake friendships. Only having the balls to talk behind one's back. Sometimes people just don't know how to have an original thought. They have to only want to steal, what they once shit on. I'm really tired of bands here who have the Big Fish in a Small Pond syndrome. It's really easy to reach a platue here, but when you've toured for 2 months at a time, played shows almost every night that your were out there, barely sleeping. That's what makes a band. Not giving a shit about your time slot, and helping out the bands that are on the road, that's what make's a band. Remember we have a lot of good bands here. But there are great bands everywhere. No one here is special, and no one here deserves special treatment. You have to work for it. Slave for it. If you really want it. That's all...

Planning a Tour....

So far so good. We will be touring w/ The Hero And The Victor this summer. If you live out side of Bakersfield, keep an eye out for us. Also if you'd like us to come to your town let us know, we'll see what we can do. Last night our buddies, The 400 Blows had their record release party. Man did I want to go. But somtimes duty calls. You'll have to get the new album. It's titled, "Angle's Trumpets and Devil's Trombones."(GSL Records) You can check them out at 400blows.net or myspace.com. Be sure to check our myspace spot for upcoming shows. The War Days film is coming out. This event will be @ the Spotlight Thearter. Movie + Bands. We will be on of the bands performing that night. Be sure to check out nl's site for all the info. Also we will be playing the Rockin' Reggae Fest this year. June 4th...Saturday. I'll have more info as I get it. Thursday May 5th.(Cinco de Mayo) We will be playing a show w/ Gramercy Riff, and Fail Safe. It's all ages, and it's only $5. Plus I hear they have $1 beer and $1 tacos @ Montgomery World Plaza. So come help us rock out. Things are good w/ us. Working on some new material. Also we should have an album coming out in a couple months. So many good things coming up soon. Our friends in the Liars And Thieves
have a good show coming up @ Riley's Tavern at the end of the month. They will be playing with this amazing band called The Red Onions. Also with Teenage Talking Cars. Both of the last two bands are from Los Angeles. The Red Onions know how to make you wanna dance. It's sure to be an exciting show. How about Narducci's these days. Thanks to the work of people like Nick Belardes and all the other artists, musicians, and music enthusiasts who never gave up on that place for a venue, we will soon be putting on a show there. I might have mentioned before, about Girth(Seattle). This show should be amazing. So come help us convince the owner of Narducci's that rock shows are well worth his time. Sunday...An upcoming tour...Parties....

Okay so it's Sunday. Tonight we will play with The Rolling BLackouts, and Liars And Thieves @ Riley's Tavern. It's gonna be a great show. I just got done reading nl's story about the girl in pineapple pj's. What a story. Crazy pictures. So I was talking to Dave from The Hero And The Victor, yesterday. We are in the works of planning a tour together around the 24th of July, to the 7th of August. Mostly just of California. Maybe a little bit of Reno. To go see some friends of ours. It's gonna be rad to get back on the road. It's been a few months. So there are lots of good shows coming up right here in town. We will be playing a show w/ Girth from Seattle, Day And Age from San Diego, also w/ Gramercy Riff @ Narduccis. It's gonna be on Friday May 27th about 9 PM $5 18+w/ID. The rock n roll will be so moving that you won't want it to end. The fact that these guys come up here, knowing they must stay the night. That Bakersfield isn't just a one night stand anymore. But somewhere, where there's a lot of love for music, and the people who play it. That's why great bands always want to come back here. Because of all the people who come out and rock. Who stay the distance, come out and party, and give these guys a home away from home. So yes, it's going to be a late night of sharing drunk stories, catching up, an acoustic jam session probably. (The Rolling Blackouts and us always end up playing Beatles' songs, Bob Dylan, and many other cover songs all night, till a string breaks.) Wake up all out of it. Go get some breakfast...Say our sweet goodbyes. Wait till the next time we hang out again. Anyways, hope to see all of you there. I know Monday's going to rough, but sometime's it just worth it.

Rolling Blackouts will ROCK this Sunday!!!

If for some reason you haven't seen these guys, well, you're lucky they are sweet enough to come back and play Riley's one more time. The Rolling Blackouts are rock 'n' roll. These guys just know how to do it. A blend between The Who, Led Zepplin, still able to sound original though. I guess you could say they kind of picked up where others left off. We will be playing w/ these guys. Liars And Thieves will too. The show is 21+,FREE, Sun. April 24th, 9PM. So you have to come and watch these guys. We are working on some more out of town shows too. Back to Santa Barbara, maybe something in Fresno. We have a San Diego show coming up in May. It's good to stay busy. Thanks to everyone who came out, and supported us this weekend. We really appreciate it. The internet problems continued till today. Who really knows what happened. But, man is it nice to have it back. There might be some really big news coming up. We'll let you know as soon, as it is confirmed. Don't want to jinx ourselves or anything. But it's gonna be good, if it happens. Sorry it's been awhile

We've had some internet problems, but it's all over now. Thank you Nick for the offer, but I soon realized your number was on one of my emails, and I could not get online. So lots of stuff has been going on. We are playing this Friday 15th @ Kosmos. It's on 19th ST. by H St. The old Goose Loonies for those who don't know. Minds Of Boggle will also be playing. It's 18+ $5 @ the door. Starts around 10 PM. Nick is also now writing blogs for Bakersfield.com. Music Reviews and what not. So be sure to check it out. I was talking to Cesareo from Karmahitlist yesterday. He was in Okalahoma,(will be home real soon) on tour. We are going to look into getting Broken Record Gospel, Karmahitlist, and Gramercy Riff all together in one place, for one hell of a show. We'll see if it happens. GR been really busy lately, but hopefully we'll have some good news about that one soon. This Saturday the 16th @ the Empty Spacew Theater, Is the Rebel Arts Craft Show. Be sure to be there for art, music $1 beer for those opf you 21+. An all around good time. We are playing The Silver Fox after party show. Around 10 Pm for all of you 21+. Talk to you all soon. So I had a few too many drinks last night. Well, no, actually I can pin point it to exactly one too many. But that's okay. So a lot has happened the last few days. The Santa Barbara show was great. With the exception of the 8 hours on the side of the freeway we spent having to entertain ourselves waiting for a tow truck. But now it's all fine. We got the van back from Santa Barbara Monday. We played a great show @ Rileys which unfortunately got cut short by the Wing Wahs fire. The Binges were great, and man, did I want to see The Strays, but we had to evacuate the building. They promised to come back though. We are working on getting a BBQ together w/ lots of good folks in town, working on helping the music/arts scene here in Bakersfield. Also there's gonna be a show @ The Silver Fox on Thurs. April 7th w/ Gramercy Riff and us. So all will have to come out and watch that one. I guess everyone can feel the tension in the scene right now. A lot is going on. I think one side is starting to realize that they have gone too far. But is it too late for apologies? Will people forget and forgive? Should they? That's up to them. It doesn't matter anymore. The scene can't be stopped. There is too musch going on. All you have to do is get out there and support the people who are truly supporting your local music and art scene. Lots of love, come see us soon.

The show itself in Santa Barbara turned out pretty good. We had a great crowd response. Which is always nice. A couple of music promoters were there, and asked us to come back and play their venues. Also, all the bands rocked! I will have to write more about that later. I'm a little tired. It's been a very long day. Nothing like sitting on the edge of the road off the freeway, in broken down van for 8 hours. So you'll have to check back tomorrow, or maybe the next day. I'm sure by then all have recovered enough to be able to tell you all the juicy details of our Santa Barbara trip.

Getting Ready for One Wild Weekend

Methsheddy's playing Thursday(St. Patrick's day) @ The Silver Fox. I don't even know what to say about that. It's just gonna be crazy. It's Gabe's birthday on Saturday. For those of you who don't know Gabe,(he's the guitar player for The Hero And The Victor)he's one hell of sweet dude. Boy can he drink! Following that up w/ the show this Sunday @ Riley's Tavern. THATV, Broken Record Gospel, and this band from San Diego, Day And Age(who we can't wait to see live.) Monday we'll be out of town in Santa Barbara. Spending a day at the beach. Tuesday we are rocking at Zelo's in Santa Barbara, with all the boys. If anyone's interested in going, all the venue info's on our myspace spot. We'd love to party w/ you all at the beach. We could have a Bakersfield beach party right there, right then. HaHa. Well anyway check out whatever shows you can. Riley's Tavern also has a myspace acount now, it's myspace.com/rileystavern. The Hero And The Victor

So there is this band, The Hero And The Victor, from Santa Barbara. These guys are going to be playing here on Sun. March 20th w/ us and this band, Day And Age(San Diego) @ Riley's Tavern @9PM. I hope to see all of you there (by all of you, I mean who ever is reading this, and your friends). THATV are an amazing band, filled w/ super swell guys. The sweethearts that they are have booked us a show in Santa Barbara for the following Tuesday. It's great to see bands that are supportive of other bands. Sometimes I don't think there is enough of that. But the times are changing. Mostly because of people like NL Belardes, and all the other bloggers on this site. People like Jake from Downtown Records. People like AJ and Alex from Gigantic Vintage. The new band and venue community which is finally becoming a community. Also, last but not least, people like you, who are reading these words that are being written about the artist in your community, and finally coming out and watching the bands in your town. I'm starting to get a little misty. On another note, this Thursday March 17th (AKA: St. Patricks Day) Colin's side project, Methsheddy will be playing @ the Silver Fox. Sometime around 10 PM. Methsheddy is not for the faint of heart, and honestly should come w/ a warning label. So if you think you are man, or woman, enough to handle Methsheddy, we'll see you there. I guess that's all for now. It's time to get off the computer, and go for a bike ride in the lovely Oleander neighborhood.

A Night at the Mint
